Vondelpark by Hanna Abi Akl

in late afternoons
we liked to hide in the park
under the black alder trees
and smoke our cigarettes
watching the sky sink
into point blank
& when night came
for us like a deathmark
ominously gliding over our shadows
we knew
we were the greatest lovers
in an unfit & blasphemous universe.
