On Living Alone by Giovanni Mangiante

they never teach you in school
that avocados
are engineered to self-destruct
in a matter of hours
when you're the one who's
paid for the damn things,
and you never truly grasp the idea
of how deplorable,
miserable, disgusting,
and unholy your lifestyle is
until a friend of yours shows up
uninvited to your place.
