Nightmare by Ceinwen E Cariad Haydon

like one of those dreams –
the gap between us starts as a slim fissure
then in awful slow motion yawns
into an abyss
another lockdown leaves us staring across distances squinting in efforts to remember much-loved features phased out
wrenched from familiarity’s space too remote to kiss or embrace
