I may be the sun by Jason Melvin

for 2 to 2.5 seconds a day
at first
I assume a ghost
as any reasonable person would
each morning
when I pull out of the driveway
my neighbor’s lamp post
blinks out
I thought for sure it was a sign
of what no clue
a celestial call
an attempt to reach me
from somewhere else
after weeks, I realized
my headlights hit it
just right
and it must be solar powered
I am Big
Bright
Beautiful
(cont.)
and everything revolves around me
Monday through Friday
each morning
for 2 to 2.5 seconds
What a way
to start the day
