  You could have a big dipper

Ephemeral by Samuel Oyekeye

We all come naive to this world

With innocence and indiscrimination

of race, tribe, culture, religion, and politics;

without worries about the future

As time goes by, influencers water our horrific

thoughts with their sprinkler mouth!

Putting us to the test,as a potter does his bowl

With their hand-pruners, they dress us; chipping away at our humanity

The new us; is fantastically corrupt;

Although devoted to religion,

we carry deadly reptiles in our bellies;

We spit venom, we maim and we destroy! These are our trademarks.

As one day passes into another,

So passes life, one way or the other

our existence is ephemeral

But we seek to be immortal
