You could have a big dipper

By the Numbers by Glen Armstrong

It’s 92% time to go home.

The pain in my jaw is a 4 or 5.

It hums

like a radio

controlled model airplane.

It hums like 1973.

The song has 531 notes.

Many of them repeat.

When she sings it,

my blood pressure elevates.

My eyes dilate,

and money disappears from my wallet

like Dr. Jack Griffin,

deranged

from the potions that turn

him invisible 9 times

out of 10.

It’s 97% time to go home.

The difference between

elsewhere and invisible

is 3.
