An Ant's Final Act by Melody Wang

I had killed dozens of them weeks ago
when they had swarmed in overnight, it seemed
this one clings to me now with its tiny pincers
I pinch it off, fling it down the sink,
watch the swirling water
carry it away
I think
the darkness
becomes you
or perhaps
a great purpose
was fulfilled
if only for a moment
