You could have a big dipper

An Ant's Final Act by Melody Wang

I had killed dozens of them weeks ago

when they had swarmed in overnight, it seemed

this one clings to me now with its tiny pincers

I pinch it off, fling it down the sink,

watch the swirling water

carry it away

I think

the darkness

becomes you

or perhaps

a great purpose

was fulfilled

if only for a moment

Melody Wang currently resides in sunny Southern California with her dear husband. In her free time, she dabbles in piano composition and also enjoys hiking, baking, and playing with her dogs. She can be found on Twitter @MelodyOfMusings.
