I Can’t Decide if I Want a Second Child, So I Wait for the Universe to Send Me a Sign


out of nowhere

my four-year-old says he wants a baby

“a little sister” he adds

and I go silent

the only sound is the scream of

cicadas lining every tree branch

relentlessly

fucking
